The impact of dental amalgam on health

In any dictionary we find that mercury is poisonous and that is one of the main components of dental amalgams.

Every time you eat, chew or brush your teeth, you can bring to the onset of degenerative disease, especially the nervous system. In any dictionary we find that mercury is poisonous and that is one of the main components of dental amalgams. The formula today in a typical dental amalgam is, 50% mercury, 35% silver, 13% tin, 2% copper and a trace amount of zinc. Mercury can become a lethal toxin in the mouth when vaporized. When applied to the teeth, mercury also generates harmful electrical currents in the mouth of patients. These currents are larger and worse when there are also in the same oral cavity, other metals such as gold. We found currents with values exceeding 200 mV. It has been discovered that when chewed, produce toxic fumes of mercury rises to 6 times. The dentists prefer amalgam of mercury because it is exceptionally plastic. It is the only heavy metal that is liquid at regular temperatures.

There were other seemingly solid reasons to promote the use of mercury liquid helps dissolve other metals. Easily moldable form alloys with them. It binds extremely well to the walls of the tooth cavity. This apparently unique and useful feature of mercury, also keeps the bacteria at bay. Mercury is much cheaper than gold. Although many people know the silver amalgam, actually, we saw that 50% of its content, is mercury. As we know, are very popular, but in the last decade, tests have been very conscientious about their alleged safety recognized by academic institutions and the results are impressive.

The University of Calgary conducted a scientific research on the issue because they are used each year in North America alone, 100,000 pounds of mercury for dental amalgam. This study demonstrated that mercury vapor is also released during chewing. When they placed their sheep fillings in their teeth, to 29 days later, he was able to corroborate the presence of mercury in various organs and tissues associated with degenerative changes. This is one reason why the Swedish government banned the placement of dental amalgam in pregnant women because of their ability not only to penetrate the blood brain barrier (ie reaching the brain) but apparently also cross the membrane placenta. Dr. Fritz Lorscheider published in Insight magazine an article on the subject and concludes, Mercury is highly permeable to cell membranes and as vapor can easily move through the lungs into the blood and gastrointestinal tract.

The American Dental Association was charged with misrepresentation on September 20, 1990 in federal court in the U.S. for more than 35 dentists who are members of the association. The charges say the lawsuit "during the course of years, the association, incidentally, has conveyed misinformation about water fluoridation, fluoride in teeth and the fillings ... in an attempt to avoid liability and protect their reputation. " In an article published in the journal Physiologist, Dr. Summers said he discovered that in human subjects with dental amalgams, has found bacteria resistant to the metal and recycle it into the patient's body. A recent report published in the German magazine Natur, it tells the story of a patient suffering from Alzheimer's disease and how he recovered from his illness when he extracted dental amalgams. Note the author, Mr. Warren that if cavities are formed at the level of root canals, the risk of dispersion of mercury through the blood vessels is higher. An Austrian journalist also suffered a similar situation. Mr. Ernest Ebm was confined to a wheelchair. After many futile attempts, he extracted all the fillings in his teeth. And since then is in good health. Dentists and their assistants suffer, usually the worst mercury poisoning. Have been found to have mercury in their hair and nails and has also been found to have levels 70 times higher in the pituitary gland that control groups.

It is important to clarify that when a person makes a chronic poisoning by mercury, we should not blame only the amalgam, since mercury can accidentally acquired through different sources. Such is the case of coal combustion, mercury electrical switches and batteries. Some people are contaminated by mercury barometers rompérseles bulbs or mercury thermometers.

During the investigation into the source of mercury pollution, we must remember that many industrial workers are exposed to mercury in the manufacture of thermometers and other scientific equipment, as well as dry cell manufacturing and packaging of mercury compounds. While eating fish can be a major route of environmental exposure to organic mercury. This is because mercury, discharged into waterways by industrial sources and transformed into organic mercury by microorganisms bioaccumulate in fish.

Many heavy metals are highly toxic to the developing fetus. Children poisoned by mercury in Minamata, Japan illustrate the overall vulnerability of the fetus. Methylmercury discharged by a nearby plant producing vinyl, polluted waters of the bay and kept the food in the diet of mothers of children. While mothers were apparently not affected, many of their children died and others were horrible and sadly distorted. Currently there are perfect products to replace mercury amalgams to help us.

An effective method to determine the degree of accumulation of mercury in our body, hair mineral analysis. Through it, we can determine the levels of 37 normal minerals. We can also measure the levels of the 7 major heavy metals (cadmium, lead, arsenic, barium, beryllium, aluminum), among which is mercury. This is useful clinically to demonstrate scientifically the likely impact of dental amalgams in the patient's overall health.

Among the natural products that can be used to prevent chronic poisoning are the selenium binds to mercury, vitamin C and E. Silica regular supplements strengthen the gums and teeth and bone structures help prevent cavities from forming. Before we consider placing amalgams in our mouths, we recommend that we make a Biocompatibility test to determine the best alternative within the wide range of materials available.

The Research Society of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine AC participated in the International Symposium on the toxicity of mercury amalgam and its connection with arthritis, multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer's disease. This event was held at The Robson Square Conference Center in Vancouver, B. C. Canada from 17 to 20 May 1991. Among the prominent speakers who were dentists, are Dr. Sandra Denton of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and Chelation Therapy and Dr. Hal A. Huggins of Huggins Diagnostic Center. The FDA (equivalent to the Ministry of Health) has forced some U.S. states dentists to request a written consent to their patients, before applying mercury amalgam fillings in your teeth, which warns of the risks involved. There is a very interesting book titled "Mercury Poisoning from Dental Amalgam - A Hazard to Human Brain" by Dr. Pratrick Störtebecker, M. D., Ph. D. Associated professor in neurology at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.

This book talks about the transport of mercury within the human body by different pathways to the brain, as well as microbial conversion of inorganic mercury into organic mercury. The book aims to present an overview of the characteristics of mercury and its toxicity, in particular its damaging action on the nervous system. Here also reports on the serious consequences that are generated due to mercury poisoning, which is continuously released from dental amalgams. Finally, Dr. Störtebecker said that the mercury released is based on the mucous membranes of the oro-nasal cavity, from which it carries even further into the body, especially to the brain.
